Positive about Disabled People
Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service has been awarded the Positive about Disabled People “Two Ticks” symbol as recognition of our assurance to take action on the following commitments:
- to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and to consider them on their abilities (support staff only)**
- to discuss with disabled employees, at any time but at least once a year, what both parties can do to make sure disabled employees can develop and use their abilities
- to make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment
- to take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work
- to review these commitments each year and assess what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans
** Due to numerous stages in the wholetime/retained firefighter recruitment and recruitment firefighters (control) it is not possible to guarantee an interview for people who meet the minimum standards for the role. Reasonable adjustments are therefore made when possible.
In order for you to benefit from our commitments please let us know that you have a disability under the relevant section of the application form and if you have any special requirements for interview.
