Equality & Diversity

Partnership Working

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service continue to build on our relationships with individuals, local and national groups and organisations to help form our equality and diversity work. Below are some examples of local partnership working and some  links to other partners and organisations.

The Forth Valley Public Bodies Equality and Diversity Partnership Group

The Forth Valley Public Bodies Equality and Diversity Partnership Group was established to provide a focus for Equality and Diversity throughout the Forth Valley area and includes partners from:

  • Central Scotland Police
  • Clackmannanshire Council
  • Falkirk Council
  • Forth Valley College
  • Valuation Board
  • Stirling Council
Multi-Agency Hate Response Strategy (MAHRS)

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service is a partner within the MAHRS strategy. MAHRS are a group of public and voluntary sector organisations working together to identify and eliminate unlawful discrimination, attacks and harassment and to promote good relations in Central Scotland. A copy of the strategy and further information can be found at www.stophateincentralscotland.org.uk

Sensory Centre

We have continued to work alongside the Sensory Centre for advice and guidance on publications and targeting of individuals with sensory impairment. The advice and guidance of both the service users and individuals who work at the centre has been invaluable and helped shape a lot of our work.

LGBT Development Group

LGBT Youth Scotland hosts a monthly LGBT Development Group to look at greater inclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people across the Central area.

Through LGBT Youth Scotland, Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service have registered their involvement in working towards achieving the LGBT Charter Mark. The LGBT Charter of Rights were developed in consultation with LGBT young people, LGBT adults and a variety of agencies. The purpose of the charter is to assist organisations to mainstream LGBT issues and play a part in creating a future where all LGBT people are valued, included and supported. The Service champion for all charter work is Denise Rooney, who can be contacted at equality@centralscotlandfire.gov.uk should you have any questions or feedback on on-going work.
