Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service team lift second place at rescue challenge 2008


team_web.jpgCentral Scotland Fire and Rescue Service extrication team have lifted the second top award at Rescue Challenge 2008 held at Stirling University. The team was just pipped for the top place by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Two members of the Central Scotland team were also awarded the John Noble Memorial trophy for technical rescue, the first team to win this award and from the host service.

Over 500 competitors from the event attended the award ceremony which was held at Stirling castle on Saturday night. The visitors were piped into the castle and entertained by a pipe band and the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Chief Fire Officer Steven Torrie said "This event has been an enormous success in demonstrating the best of the skills and dedication of the fire and rescue service in the UK. I am extremely proud of our team not only for their achievement as competitors in the event, but also for the organisation of the whole event which has showcased central Scotland to so many visitors."
