About 2.10am, Saturday 10th May, 2008 a small fire was reported at Ineos Refinery, Grangemouth, resulting in well practiced response procedures being implemented. Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service attended at the refinery, although the fire was quickly extinguished by Ineos' own fire personnel and firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Service were not actually deployed. Nobody was injured as a result of this incident and at no time was the community at risk. The fire will have no impact upon fuel supplies whatsoever. Central Scotland Strategic Co-ordinating Group continue to monitor the ongoing start up procedures at the refinery in conjunction with colleagues within the Health and Safety Executive, SEPA and Health Protection (Scotland) and the Scottish Government.
