| Fatal Fire in Holiday Chalet (16/11/07) |

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service have attended a fatal fire in a holiday chalet near Carbeth in Stirlingshire. Fire crews from Balfron, Stirling and Aberfoyle assisted by a crew from Milngavie, arrived just after 9pm to find the isolated building well alight. The chalet was extensively damaged by the fire and during a search of the building the remains of a body were found. A joint investigation by Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service and Central Scotland Police is now underway to establish the cause of the fire and identify the body. Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service urges people with holiday homes, caravans and boats with sleeping accommodation, to ensure that they have a smoke alarm fitted to them as well as the smoke alarm in your own home. |
