Equality & Diversity

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service recognises many people experience inequality in the community and the workplace. We therefore strive to lead by example, taking individual and organisational steps to challenge prejudice and discrimination.

We want all of our diverse communities to feel that Central Scotland is a safe place to work and live through providing truly inclusive policies and initiatives. We have embraced the changes brought about by the Equality Act 2010 to ensure we meet our statutory obligations under the forthcoming Public Sector Equality Duty.

“Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service is committed to being an equal opportunities employer and to meeting our legal obligations and is resolved to ensure that no job applicant, employee or service user receives less favourable treatment because of the following:

Race, religion, nationality, ethnic or national origins, disability, age (subject to normal retirement age and the restrictions on the employment of young people), gender, sexual orientation, marital status, responsibility for dependents, employment status, background, social and economic circumstances, education, address, trade union activity or political affiliation. Or be disadvantaged by conditions or requirements that cannot be shown to be justifiable.”

This section of the website provides further details of our equality and diversity policies and initiatives. As always, we welcome your contributions and comments on our on-going equality and diversity work.
